Greetings!

More than likely the motor is burned out. That is the only thing in the appliance which would draw enough amperage to break a circuit.
Or, a bare wire is touching metal, but you would hear and smell it as metal burning.
Try turning the impeller in the dishwasher if it wont turn it is the motor.

Good Luck

There are two possible scenarios, either:
It's wired to earth in which case it will do it instantly every time or
You are pulling too much amperage off your ring main in which case it'll either do it or not and it may do it after a bit.
In the latter scenario check what any other appliance in the kitchen is doing before the fuse goes. Does the fridge motor start? Are you using a kettle at the same time? Do you switch a microwave or toaster on when the dishwasher's going? Are you running a washing machine or tumble dryer when you set the dishwasher off?
You can only draw so much power through your kitchen ring and my guess is that you're trying to run a whole host of hungry appliances at once. If you have a kitchen heater that plugs in to the wall, switch it off.

My "X" had the same problem I used to trip out !!!! from time to time usually to next door. Smile! next door was the pub. sod the pots anyone for a pint. many was the time she blew a fuse.

God it is good to be single

Seriouse Now I
Is it tripping as an overload or is it on the earth leakage ?
If its on overload is it at the start of the cycle or part way through the difference is at the start its the pump at the end then its probably the heater and its very much the same if its on earth fault. one realy then has to test with a meter to decide what the fault is on.There isn't a lot to go wrong on a dishwasher could even just be food particalls jamining the pump. May need an engneer or a REALY good Mr fixit.

it is posible that your fuse box was wired for a certain amount of wattage and your dishwasher is tripping the fuse box to prevent an overload, I used to live in an old house that our fuse box would shut off the applicanes when they where all running at the same time. You may need to add a fuse or more wiring in the fuse box in order to use your dish washer. you should be happy that your fuse box is shutting down, this a safety feature in order to prevent a fire. I would look in the phone book or go online to look for an electrictrican.

First of all you say the fusebox trips and I am thinking that you mean you have a split load board with a RCD protecting the power circuits.
If it is the device with a small "Test" button on it then you have something leaking current to earth on your dishwasher.
This could be the pump, drive motor or some other device on the dishwasher.
In any case it's a specialist job to sort out and I advise you to call an appliance repair specialist.

Get a new dishwasher - we had a free fire prevention visit from the fire brigade and they said the biggest cause of house fires was faulty dishwashers and washing machines - especially if put on overnight. Just not worth risking.

I suggest you hire an electrician to look at it, it sounds like it is the breaker the causing the problem and that should be checked out by an electrician since they are more quailified and know what to look for any type of electrical problems. You don't want to risk getting a electrical shock, if you do it by yourself. Better safe than sorry.
