She nad I have become great friends over the last year but am stumped as far as waht ti give her with not much money to spend I want it to be special. I know that she isnt coming to see me for the presents but I want her to know how much her friendshiop means to me and my family. I love her like my own daughter.

I think you should treat her out to some great American style food. It's more of something that she might enjoy as an experience. I would also recommend cool "American" icons stuff like Jelly Belly beans.

a sweatshirt with her favorite music band on it
a good book that you like
a T-shirt with your picture on it (maybe even get a picture of the both of you next to each other and get 2 Ts made... 1 for you and 1 for her)
There are tons of things that would considered a special gift. Most special gifts are usually hand-crafted by the one giving it.

If you can find them get her a box of Tim Tams. They are a Australian treat. She can show your family the proper way to eat them. (they are great).
