The Adam Smith institute did a research project a few years back and the result of thier computations were thus; If you collected all of the cash money that was in circulation at any given point in time, and then divided the said amount with all of the people in the world over a given age(i cannot remember the age, but i think it was sixteen).
then within two years 20% of the people in the world would own 80% of the wealth, just like it is now.
not being one of the 20% i doubt that i would bother.LF

Needless to say, not everyone (not even close) would be willing to give all of their money to this collection. Even if we did achieve what you have proposed, the compromise we have reached between being rich and being poor will eventually break once again; someone will have more money than others while someone will have less money than others. Sadly and unfortunately, that is how the world was designed, and until we can bring our uncaring, inconsiderate selves to do something about it, this is how the world shall remain.

No. Why should I share my hard earned money with people that do nothing but sit around all day on their lazy butts. I never did believe in the idea of sharing money equally with everyone, but I do believe in giving everyone the opportunity to work for money. This would give our society a sense of work ethic unlike the idea of just giving everyone money.

Sure. But then I'm poor.

The concept is interesting, because the initial monetary balance would quickly shift.

BUT(!) would the same rich folks emerge as before? Or would many not be able to pull themselves up from their "economic equality" and regain their former status?

Today, yes I would! (My bank balance is low) Sounds like an aspect of communism- sort of. The concept is wonderful, but not functional. Money is just a vehicle.

No I don't. I think that the people who have earned their wealth by working very hard should not have to give it all up to those who don't bother to do anything.

I know there are some people out there that have it very bad and it's extreamly hard for them to break out of poverty, but we're already doing enough to help them. More can be done, yes, but it would be stealing for someone to force someone to give up the money that they earned to someone who hasn't done a thing.

No, but I think there is something wrong with a society that gives millions to one guy and lets others suffer in poverty.
