Believe me, this one does work. 21 years ago I was in hospital with complicated pregnancy as well as a lady having twins. She was downing Maaloxx like it was water. A nurse came in and gave her advice that I follow to this day. Boil some water and slowly sip at it. It seems t do something with the acid. Pain disappears a lot faster than antacids and it works. Drinking milk is not such a good idea at the time you are having the tummy trouble as it takes a long time to digest and can bring on enough troubles. PLEASE TRY THIS! you will not regret it. I would love to here from you to see how it went. I know people that have also added a drop of peppermint oil too the mug of water. This is definetly safe for pregnant women.

Just to let you know, (and be a smart alleck to some of the answers I have seen), Rolaids, and Tums are your best bet, they are totally safe, and give you lots of calcium which women need esspecially when pregnant. Now let me just say one other thing, heartburn has nothing to do with a baby having hair or not, you can ask your doctor that. I have had 4 and heartburn through all 4, and read every baby/pregnancy book out there, hope this helped, good luck

Get a prescription from the Dr. That is what I had to do. I suffered through 3 pregnancies with really bad heartburn and now Im pregnant with my 4th and dont want to suffer like that again. My dr prescibed me some medicine and I never have heartburn anymore. Its nice.Tums, and all those other things just dont work well. ( and none of my babys had hair like these other people are saying..:)

1 part Apple Cider Vinegar
3 parts filtered water
I seen this on a paid program once about how the government and the doctors don't want you to know certain things. Basically, just buy a bottle of Apple Cider Vinegar, pour about a tablespoon in a cup, fill the cup with filtered water halfway and drink it. I just dilute the "ACV" with filtered water in the bottle it came in. It works almost instantly.
It may be really sour but it gets the job done.

Cheese. Dairy products are good at relieving heart burn. I hear tums work good but I did not want to go that route I can not say for sure

MYTH about the hairy baby, I had terrible heartburn and my son was NOT hairy. Tums are good, but the best medicine is Gaviscon liquid. It tastes bad but it works well. I had it on my night stand with a measuring spoon. Good luck, it literally disappears the minute your baby comes out.

I had INSANE heartburn throughout my whole pregnancy! The ONLY thing that would help me was chewable Gaviscon. Tums made me violently vomit, I tried milk to coat my tummy and that made me sick too...I tried EVERYTHING anyone offered. Gaviscon didn't make it go away, but it definitely helped relieve the pain and discomfort of acid reflux/heartburn.
Good Luck!

Chew some tums and sleep/rest sitting up - I had the same problem...ended up in the hospital because of it. Watch your diet, though not much will change even if you do. The best thing is staying as vertical as possible.

Rolaids Soft Chews and Tums are your best bet, I had horrible heartburn my whole pregnancy (my 7 week old baby girl had an ungodly amount of hair at birth) carry them with you at all times.
