the organization of your brain...I think there is some genetic basis though

I have no Idea but I know it has to do with the brain, I have 4 kids and all but one are right handed, the one is left handed we could tell from when she was very young that she was left handed, nobody else in either of our families is left handed.

So who knows one of those mysteries

I'm left handed.My grandmother told me that she heard that the left part of my brain is better developed than my right part.Right handed people have their right part of their body better developed than the left one.

Whatever you practice with most. If you start writing with the hand you don't normally use after a while you will become ambidextrous.

No one really knows although there has been speculation that mothers who are heavy smokers tend to have left handed children more frequently than non-smokers.
