New babies can always use clothes. Get bigger clothes for the next season maybe a pack of diapers or make a basket with a couple of things like hylan's teething tables, infants Tylenol, an ear thermometer, some diapers, oneses stuff like that.

any baby furniture, except a bassinet - I think they are a waste of money because they outgrow them so fast. But honestly - she probably really NEEDS things for the baby but I would still get her something for herself. Maybe a new robe and slippers for the hospital. Or a Hospital gift bag with shampoo and stuff to make her feel human again and some perfume. Sometimes when a woman has a child she gets lost in just having to be everything for the little one and feels lost herself. You could give her a gift certificate saying you will come over and watch the baby or straighten the house while she gets a much needed nap or goes to the movies.

Get a boppy pillow I think that has saved me alot
They are used for helping the mother to hold the baby and have a place to rest the baby if she is breast feeding but even if she doesn't she may use it to give the baby a bottle it is also used to prop the baby up some when lying down also helps to support the baby when they are first learning to sit up. Found out what she needs a stroller diaper bag filled with baby supplies (diapers wipes lotion diaper cream pacifiers bottles rattles bibs onesies thermometer shampoo wash clothes towels lullaby Cd's ) or make a basket using the same stuff Make a bag for mom with stuff she might need when she goes to the hospital (nice robe and slippers magazine to read between contractions soap and shampoo and lotion and maybe even a razor{cuz if she is like me it may have been a while since she felt like shaving} brush quarters for vending machinces a calling card if she has relitiaves that live far away disposable camera or film for her camera if you can find out what kind she has . Blankets outfits crib sheets mobile high chair walker bouncy seat crib bassinet changing table rocker monitor. Please, if your sister already has a basic wardrobe for her baby, don't get clothes. They grow out of them so quickly. My niece's baby ended up with a ton of clothes that she never even got to wear.
When my baby was born, I would have loved basic baby furniture that will be useful well into the first and second year. A crib, a high chair, a good car seat, a bouncy chair, one of those Fisher-Price toys(can't remember what they call it) that grows with the child.
A supply of diapers in both new-born and the next size up is great also. I still prefer cloth diapers myself and I remember that keeping my girl supplied with rubber pants was a constant challenge.

Toys and most articles of clothing are tossed, given away or sold at second hand stores as baby outgrows each item. The baby things that I have kept and will continue to keep for years are personalized gifts that my close friends and family made themselves. These are things that have meaning and are put in keepsake boxes.

Fisher Price Peek and Play Discovery Dome is great and ALL of the Leap Baby toys are extremely educational. Lamaze brand has some nice toys as well. Go to Babies R' Us online or to your nearest store and you can find exactly what you need plus they give a lot of coupons. Check the net first and see the sales.

One of my friends created a beautiful keepsake book for my husband and me right before our first child was born. It was called A Book of Advice and Good Wishes. To make this book, my friend wrote to about 30 of our friends and relatives, near and far, and asked each person to write a letter of good wishes or advice to my husband and I now that we were about to become parents. These letters were collected and organized in a lovely leather scrapbook, and presented to us as a surprise at our baby shower. Some of the letters in the notebook were funny and light-hearted. Some had colorful illustrations while others contained practical advice about caring for the baby, or heart-felt congratulations. To this day, our Book of Advice and Good Wishes is one of our most valued possessions and truly the best baby gift I could imagine.

Small teddy bears, plush toys, books for babies. You can go to Babies R Us and there is a section just for learning toys that are great for infants! Congrats on the future niece or nephew!

of direction a motor vehicle seat will be a present. toddler doesn't comprehend or care about vacation journeys at the moment, she'll be extra intrigued by the tree and each and every of the superb baubles! something straight forward for her to play with, besides because the necessary kit you want to get, are impressive presents! even as the vehicle seat saves her life quicker or later, (God keen it no longer be needed), you (and she or he) will be grateful you gave her that present!!

Books and clothes were always welcome gifts in our house. I also loved when my sister would give us a coupon for free babysitting so that we could get nights out with out our girls :) You could also give them a scrapbook either already made or give them the book and tell them that you'll make it for them, you just need for them to give you pictures.
