SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!! you have been warned!
Ok, i had high hopes for this film. Everyone had said it was really good and stuff so i went and thought "this is gonna be AMAZING" i was way off. I enjoyed the first half, the airport bit was really good, probably the best bit. Well then it went all down hill. Especially once Bond got poisened. At least that happened, i wouldnt want to have to watch random people playing poker for one more second, without a little action. Then well, i lost complete intrest and really wanted just to walk out. Also this film just kept getting stretched on and on, it could have ended many many times before it did. And even then killing off both Bond girls, and with Bond shooting this random guy, didnt work for me.
Oh yeh, an extra complaint , where was Q and Miss Moneypenny, they make a Bond film Bond, if you know what i mean!
Over to what you think....

I haven't watched it and I have no intention to.
Daniel Craig just really puts me off.

It thought it was decent. I had low expectations and they were met but not surpassed. My main complaint was that without the comic edge the old Bond films had this one was just a poorer version of the Bourne films. Also the end was a bit weak and dragged on.
Overall I'd say 7 / 10, but as I was expecting a 6 / 10 then I can't really complain too much.

Ok, I'm a huge James Bond fan. I have seen all films several times.
I loved this one. I liked that it was James just getting started as a 00. It was very believable for me to see him as a young James. More physical and aggressive toward bad guys. Less refined and more boyish like towards women. With M, he was like a kid and his parent, testing the waters and pushing the limits to see exactly what he could get away with. If you look at this film as the beginning of Bond, I thinks it's easy to see him morph into the more sophisticated Connery, Moore, Brosnan Bond. (Dalton and Lazenby don't count.)
Technically, he wasn't on an assignment so no Q to give him toys. Plus, again, just upped to 00 status, so perhaps not deserving of cool toys.
Moneypenny comes later.
Anyway, these are just my thoughts.

The first half-hour to an hour I had real difficulty believing Craig was Bond, but he earned it in that time (yes, it was his physical appearance and age that put me off at first) and Vesper's remark that he was probably ex-SAS (ex-Special Boat Service more likely, as Bond is a Commander RN) made it fit. And I have to say I relished his sadism (which is a thing I normally loathe) as it finally made the character quite close to Ian Fleming's original Bond. With the greatest of respect to earlier Bonds, here was a grown-up Bond (Connery excepted, as he was equally grown-up). But I think I have to say it's not Christmas Day material - I'd not want my girl-friend's children to watch it aged eleven!!!
But, guys, specifying a cocktail with Gordon's Gin? I can't see Bond as a Gordon's man - there are better gins.
Oh, and thank God no John Cleese!

Agree with you, was not really a "jb" movie/film. It was always going to be a difficult conversion from the book to the film. Q and moneypenny were not needed. Miss them tho :) It's not Bond as we know it :( Maybe appeal to the younger generation out there tho. but untill they watch original films we aint got a leg to stand on ...

i thought it was sh*t! Its just another action film, it wasn't a bond film. James Bond is supposed to be suave, sophisticated and a dark-haired hot guy. Does daniel craig fit that description...i think NOT! Oh and i agree about the fact that Q and Miss Moneypenny are missing. I love John Cleese!
Yh so a 1 star rating from me :D

U r right as far as i am aware every1 from my work place & so did my mates said the same thing. If u have hopes to go & see a bond film just becoz its got 5stars in Newspaper then definitely you will get disappointed, but if you just go as a simple action lovestory movie, most probably you might enjoy it. But definitely not the 5stars with due respect to readers & editors i guess the bribe of free tickets havent worked magic on people.

I thought it was a wonderful film, they have finally filmed a James Bond film without all the gadgets, it was also the "first" film, so Q or Moneypenny had not appeared on the scene. Also the random guy wasn't random, if you had been paying attention, Vesper left his name on her mobile, it was him that picked up the briefcase of money.

t was the first Bond film that I have actually watched all the way through - I thought it was ok, but it went on a bit too long and I didn't actually understand the ending! People have tried to explain it to me, but sorry, I still don't get it!

I enjoyed this movie!
When watching a James Bond movie you always expect to suspend reality and not to take it too seriously!!
I thought this James Bond was a very human one (except for a superhero as he's often portayed).
I found the part when he was in the shower comforting the woman from the treasury, who was reacting to the violence she had just witnessed, interesting. I guess we get so used to watching violence and accept it without question.
