There are no difference in temperments, although please consider adopting them and not buying from a petstore.
Petstores buy from breeders, and breeders are just contributing to the overpopulation of animals. There are so many pigs in shelters, probably more than you could even imagine.
Check petfinder.com for pigs in your area, and if you still need help locating some. Check out this site- http://www.guineapigcages.com Im sure someone on that site has guinea pigs in your area looking for a forever home.

Short hair Guinea Pigs are Better because you don't have to brush much like the long hair Guinea Pigs. Short hair Guinea Pigs tend to have some hair come out but don't make much mess on your clothing like the long guinea pig hairs.
Long hair Guinea Pigs need more care because they need to be brushed every day. Plus the long hair Guinea Pigs tend to have more hair come out lose and they make more a mess on the clothing.

Short hair is easier to care for. It depends on what breed of long hair you deal with. The Abyssinian hair doesn't get but about an inch long, and is easy to care for. The Peruvian breeds can get from 3in to 5 or 6 inches long, and are very hard to care for. I had a Sheltie that I had to keep his hair short because it made his skin sore to have it long.
The webs below will help you keep you piggie healthy. Mine are all over 6 years old.

There are many types of both short and long-haired guinea pigs. There are smooth coats or swirly coats and lots of colors, too.
One of my long-haired pigs had such long hair I always had to check which end was his head or tail!
I'd say, check them all out and pick a lively one with lots of personality. They will start to calm down when they know you more and more.

Gosh, if you have any kind of allergies I would go for short haired. They are easier to take care of and look as nice as any other. Remember that a long haired is more expensive and not that much nicer.

Definately short haired - they're easiest to care for! If you have the extra time and just *have* to have a long haired one go for it, but the short are easier to care for.

basically wait and spot with them. it could take a on an identical time as for guinea pigs to get used to human beings. i've got had my guinea pigs for about 4 months now and that they nevertheless run faraway from me and cover as quickly as I come into the room. If I take a seat nevertheless in there however, they are going to at last come out and be familiar. I take mine out for some million/2 an hour to an hour for cuddles and that they get an hour or extra of grass time quite plenty every day, so basically save doing what you're doing, yet once you choose to make certain speedier progression of their behaviour, take them out for longer sessions of time and incorporate them on your every day ordinary. they are called guinea PIGS for a reason! you may attempt to muddle practice them in case you have the endurance for that. there are a number of web content and YouTube movies which could practice you the thank you to try this. that could help decrease down on the mess. i've got basically come to the top that that's what they choose of their cage, so basically enable them to do it. i'm going to place their bins and hideys the way i choose, yet day after right this moment, they have moved all of them and it quite is a pigsty in there. :D i do no longer understand approximately windex. i take advantage of vinegar to bathe my cages. it quite is organic and there is not any chemical components in it. I additionally on occasion use dishwashing detergent. yet whichever one i take advantage of, I make useful I rinse it off quite properly, basically in case the piggies can fall ill from it. Bedding is a private decision with guinea pigs, i've got discovered. i take advantage of fleece bedding and locate that it quite works quite properly for me, yet i understand guinea pig proprietors that use timber shaving and CareFresh and all varieties of different stuff that they swear by. you may attempt Aspen shavings and spot if it makes a distinction on your cage. sturdy success with each thing!

Short Haired are easier to care for. Long haired require daily grooming, so if you're ready for that, go ahead.

There is alot of grooming involved with the long haired type. They tend to get matted if you don't brush them regularly. I've had both kinds and I'd never get another long haired one again!
