I came on my job as a temp.. My boss hired me at the end of my 90 day probation period and I became full-time. This was a auto-mechanic shop. Things were nice there. My boss would defend me if things got "hairy" , at least that was what I thought he was doing. Other newbies came aboard and served their probation and got hired also. My job description was helper/janitor. I asked him repeatedly did he want to move me to another position. He said " No, buddy, your fine, I got your back". So one day I got a causual call on the intercom to report to the boss's office. I reported to the office to have my "head blown off with a shotgun". My boss told me they terminated my position and they would have to lay me off. He said it rather causually and we shook hands and parted ways. Yet, those newbies, I told you about earlier, are still there. I had senoirity over those guys but yet he got rid of me first. I had two evaluations while working there and recieved outstanding reports. What happen

I've worked in management for the past seven years at different retail outlets with as little as five employee's to 20 employee's. In that time frame I was given quite a few bad hands from higher mgmt to let go of some people, from job no longer being needed, to violation of policies and everything in between. and have also been accused of being discriminating but that was never the case.

It's really hard to say, why anyone really gets fired if in fact the card was handed from higher then your manager. Unfortunately, some places don't need or feel they don't need to tell you the real reasons to "let someone go", which always leaves the "fired employee" question what went wrong.

I say try to not let this bother you and go out and find a new job as sitting around wondering what happened isn't going to get your job back if in fact the job title was no longer needed, then it won't look as bad as if you were really fired.

good luck to you

Maybe those guys you call newbies are going to get the same ax as you after thier 90 days or whatever are up. It could be a ploy by the boss to keep wages down.

I am sorry that sucks. It could be that or boss is an idiot, or your boss just liked the other guys better. It doesnt necessarily mean he didnt keep you because of your race. But i know for minorities that seems to always be in the back of our heads

You never know, what with all the ignorance in the world today. I am sorry and I hope you find a job where they will appreciate you for who you are and the work you do. You should at least try and collect unemployment, milk em for awhile., ha ha
