its not wierd at all, however they may be hard to take care of, also if the snake is very big its not a convinient pet, however, i think that you should disscus it with your family instead of just getting one.

There are plenty of sites on the internet that have numerous people just like you as members. Find people who like snakes and you'll feel like you fit in in no time. I'm fixing to get a beautiful Dumeril's Boa soon because I like snakes. They're not the best pet, but they're not the worst either. Once the environment is setup and maintained, then the snake will stay fairly healthy.

I would definitely recommend seeking out other "herps" so they can help you to avoid some mistakes that could hurt your snake. Also, snakes vary in size and temperament. Some are less than a foot long and others can reach nearly 40ft in extreme cases.

It is not. My son was 9 when I got him his corn snake Jack. The rest of the family flipped out at first. He keeps the snake in his room. Now 2 years later the whole family goes in there to play with Jack all the time. Just give them to to adjust to the idea.

no it is not weird to have a snake as a pet.if i were you i would talk to your family and ask them to think about it and while they are thinking, i would do some research like going on google and finding out their requirements, care and more. like if you wanted a big snake you could have a python but if you wanted something smaller then you could have a corn snake. but then it also depends on what food you can feed it like corn snakes and most pythons would eat dead mice or rats and garter snakes, the common brown snake and the rough green snakes eat worms, fish, snails, slugs and insects but egg eating snakes eat eggs so if you wanted one then you would have to do a lot of research and talking to your parents.

If you're keeping your snake in your OWN house, then you shouldn't care about what your family or friends think. Now, if it is in your families house then I would sit down and have a discussion just because it's now not only your opinion towards the situation.

Tell them a lot of people keep snakes as pets and tell them a lot of people keep pitbulls too and they aren't crazy, pitbulls kill a lot more people every year than pet snakes do. neither are actually evil pitbulls and very large snakes have the potential to kill you but it is really rare for either.

having snakes as pets is psyologically normal. its just that different people like different things. if you like snakes, you should get one.
