PMS is not caused by a social expectation that women should be in a bad mood before their period!
PMS is caused by the hormonal changes that occur in your body throughout the month. Symptoms can be relieved in a number of ways. I suffer also with severe post-natal depression, so my PMS is almost psychotic. A couple of months ago I had my kinesiologist (natural threrapist) work on this issue for me, and for the past two months I've had no symptoms whatsoever.
Find a naturopath or other natural practioner who can help you to balance your hormones, and you'll find your symptoms lessen a great deal.
Also, try your local health food shop. They have lots of supplements that can help do the same thing. Lots of women use evening primrose oil. Things like magnesium and zinc should help, plus there are heaps of herbal concoctions that are brilliant.

I've been all ranges...from total b*tch to not having any signs at all. Hormones are the key, of course. My periods started out with six days balled up on the couch wondering if this is what I had to look forward to for the rest of my life LOL. What helped me the most was getting on the pill. That almost eliminated the PMS and shortened my periods. After childbirth, I stopped the pills and I'm still symptom free. Good luck to you.

Oh yes, I just got through a rough crisis this evening... I got emotional on a thing I saw on TV and started crying & laughing at the same time.... imagine that?... Plus that I`m always nervous, nothing is ever fine, I start crying out of nothing etc.
I didn`t notice these things until 2-3 years ago.... but I guess we just have to deal with them , and so do our significant halves... :)

Nature's Sunshine herbal and vitamin products has helped me for many years. These products feed the organs in control of your hormones and sugar levels. That should level things out drastically combined with prayer! Seems I have to pray lots harder during those times! My friend is a distributor if you need help. O.B.'s are stupid about real options in my experience. Find a different one or go see a chiropractor who knows more about nutrition than most Dr.'s. Mine has also helped me in this area with spinal adjustments.

ive suffered with those problems most of my life. and it does get worse. There are dietary supplements and medications that can help keep the symptoms more manageable. Also it is usually reccommended that you stay away from caffeine and alcohol and limit your salt intake. That usually helped me, along with a more understanding and helpful doctor. good luck

Yes! My doc said to take Evening Primrose Oil and B-Complex Vitamins the week before I am to start and it helps! It also helps some with my hormone-related break-outs. She (doc) said her daughter is really bad, so she has her take the vits all month long.

Um, no. Frankly, this just doesn't happen to me. I think most PMS symptoms are really just caused by our minds, having the idea in our heads (from society) that we should be b**chy during this time.
