What I know is this:
If you look at history you will find that previous generations have been either more or less righteous[moral] depending upon how they exercised their will in obedience to unchanging principles of right living and how their leaders, religious, political or otherwise behaved as an example to their people.
I could cite many examples of fallen civilizations and how they fell and I promise you, although unrecognized by historians, the root cause for their fall was their choosing to live and act, according to their own will, against principles of right living. In other words they did evil instead of good.
I have heard it said that previous generations don't hold a candle to the evil that fills our world today. That doesn't mean every single person in the world is evil but it seems the world in general is more and more succumbing to evil and destructive practices.
People don't want to acknowlege it but our world is getting closer and closer to falling over a cliff and the comforts now enjoyed by so many will no longer be.
I daresay when that time comes those who are truly impoverished will probably be better able to endure than those who have lived a life in the lap of comfort and convenience.

The one positive change that I see for future generations is tolerance for others. Children are becoming more accepting of individuality. I think it is because we are realizing that we all have imperfections. But aside from that, I would say future generations will have fewer morals. I feel that way because we are becoming a more sexualized society, the social and economic gap is widening (poor getting poorer, rich getting richer, and the middle class disappearing), and the ethical principles that this country was founded on are being corrupted. No one looks out for his fellow man anymore, we are no longer our brother's keeper. This leads to a society where immorality goes unchecked because we have no guidance, eventually we'll have an "anything goes" society. I know that when I was a kid in the 80s rap was fun and upbeat, (DJ Jazzy Jeff and Fresh Prince, Beastie Boys, Run DMC...) They rapped about going school shopping, getting grounded, tennis shoes... There were some hardcore rap, but it was underground and surely never played on radio or TV for children to hear. Even then the lyrics were tame compared to what we have now. Now you can't turn on the TV or radio with out seeing or hearing about T&A. It is such a shame. And it makes me very pessimistic about how the world will be for my children.

If the past 20 years are any indication, we are going to see what is presently taking place (a downward spiral), it is indicatative that it will continue on. There is no idication revealing any alteration of the present pattern, as established.

more. we're in a transitional period, as old bigotries are clung to as "moral," and true morality - tolerance and compassion- is criticized as perverse.

as archaic authority-based "religion" gives way toward individual spirituality, things will improve.
