I have never been to a play before, so I'm lost. I have to go to a play for my theatre class and write TEN PAGES about it!!!

How do I find out about plays going on in my area.

I'm in Los Angeles-- yes, i know i'm a dummy.

Ask your theatre teacher for recommendations.

Also, if you look in the Arts section of your newspaper, there will be listings.

A few notes about never having been to a play before:
~Please, please, please have your cell phone on silent. Vibrate is even distracting. Also, do not text message--read or write.
~If you feel you need to take notes on the play, do not sit near the front. Also, do NOT use a laptop to do so. The screen is VERY visible to the audience, actors, and crew.
~This should be obvious, but no kissing in the theatre if you go with a date.
~No food, no drinks that could spill.
~No talking. The actors can hear you. (A couple of girls were talking during a production once, and they said aloud that it was okay because they were acting and couldn't hear them...?)

I'm a theatre major, and those are all things I have seen first-timers do. I just thought I should give you a heads-up. I'm not trying to be rude or anything. :-)

Have fun!

what i usualy do is go get a newspaper and look in the art section. or I would search under the internet for a theater troupe in your area nd then look to see if they have any performances happening any time soon.
Hope this helps and have fun! Good luck!
