Reporters are usually suppose to tell the truth of what they see (at least based on the democratic view of fairness and free press coverage). Thus I would look at all of the facts that I could find (see the link below) and go to work trying to tell a story at a readable level for the intended audience.

Headline:
Scotland Wins - Macbeth becomes the new Thane of Cawdor

Then I would recount a quick list of event leading up to the last day and if possible an interview with King Duncan. The site listed below (or see the Cliff Notes version) gives a good overview of the scene. Then conclude with a interview of Macbeth in his new position and how he will be serve the king, country and his subjects.

Good Luck

Well it's not an easy question but i will try based on my study as journalist.
First of all i would describe the whole situation during that war based on the historical facts, with some info about the final day.
Then i would ask some people or experts "politicians, historinas.." about thier opinion and maybe linking it to the present.
Now you can go back to the final day of the battle by using inrisched vocabs fulls of emotions and sence that gives feeling to the listener.
All the best, wish you good luck.
