We are not animals. We are human beings, and we have a choice.

Sure, if you don't mind lowering yourself to their level.
Only unethical people will answer yes to this question.

Would you be up to torturing someone? I assume you're a normal, healthy human being, and I doubt you'd answer that in the affirmative. Imagine the screams, etc. You might even think this is someone's mother, son or father I'm doing this to. Imagine the kind of person it takes to do this. Do they think whether it's right or wrong? Their excuse is that they were told to do it. And we know the higher-ups never get punished.
Ask the military. Interrogators say they can get what they want, better, without torture. Studies show people will give any answer you want to stop punishment. Will they lie? Of course they will. Will they implicate innocent people? Of course they will. Do they give valuable evidence. The military says rarely if at all. And how would we ever know, it's all kept secret.

I don't think any kind of torture is acceptable, but no matter where you go or what you look at in life something always has a tortuos outcome of it. As for rapist and so on. Ya what they have commited is horrible but as the saying goes, two wrongs don't make a right.

terrorists - yes

The others need to be severely punished. I think they deserve a harsher sentence than just torturing.

The whole point of torturing terrorists is getting valuable information to protect lives. What could we obtain from a twisted mind of a rapist?

And conrad - You would find it acceptable if there was no other way of obtaining this information or your life was on the line.

It depends on the view.

If you are administering Torture then you think it is acceptable. Like President Bush flying to Latvia so he could poke the prisoners in the secret prison with a stick.

But if you are the person being tortured then it is unacceptable.

Although many of us would like to torture the hell out of these people I personally don't think it's right. We are no better than they are if we did.I'm not saying they don't deserve it because they do but I feel it is still wrong.
At the same time I think they need locking up for life (to the end) and not given a cushy life while in there like many prison sentences are.

Torture is a no win concern. in case you torture for suggestions, you have develop into some thing you probable as quickly as hated. in case you do no longer, inspite of the undeniable fact that, you may value slightly the lives of quite some your fellow voters. i assume if I could lose, i might quite lose my self image than my pals and better half and teenagers. the main important's this. in case you may torture somebody to get suggestions which will save the lives of one or extra US voters, then so be it. the U. S. government isn't the worldwide government...the duty is to guard US no longer THEM, so they and their 'rights' take a returned seat to us and ours. I have little question that, if the different government concept I had suggestions that would save their human beings, that they had filet me in a heartbeat.

Oh no. No way. Just allow innocent thousands to die horribly in a raging inferno rather than extract information from a blood thirsty savage hell-bent on destroying our way of life. The rest of the world will respect us. Never mind that thousands of Americans could have been saved. The respect of other nations is far more important that a few measly Americans. Right?

torture in cold blood is an unacceptable act.
it shows someone is not intelligent enough to find other solutions to a or the problems in their life.
sometimes torture is neccesary for example if a person threatened to kill thousands of innocent people and refused to tell the police they would probably torture him. though , if you have a concience torture no matter what will come back to you in horrible nightmares .
if you plan to torture anyone think twice, because
1st of all you can get the death penalty
2nd your friends will fear you and try to avoid you
3rd youwill be considered a freak if you torture anyone in cold blood and th
3rd karma, luck, life, or what ever you beleive in can bite back.

You reap what you sow.

I am surprised of the number in favor of torture. If the police were allowed to torture there would be alot more confessions, most of them innocent.
