If the night heater in a truck breaks down, does the owner of the vehicle have any legal obligation to have the unit repaired and what can the driver do in such circumstances, especially if they are somewhere where it is not permitted to run the engine overnight?

The Owner has No Legal Obligation to fix the Night Heater but the driver can refuse to sleep in the vehicle if it is known that the heater is not working, Usually if both sides co-operate the heater is fixed because it is in the operators interest to do so.

Generally the truck owner would have it repaired because it's in his own interests to have a satisfied crew.
