A couple days ago I downloaded IrfanView, a free photo editor. But now our computer performs much slower, and it's not just while we're on the internet. I don't know if the problem is from this download or not, but it would be the logical answer, right? Is there anything I can do, besides uninstalling the program?

I have the same software on my computer. I have not seen any performance issues, but that does not mean something is wrong. Do you have any anti-spyware software installed on your computer you can run? If not, there are many free, but good, choices out there. I have a couple recommendations, if you don’t mind. I use both Ad-Aware SE and AVG Anti-Spyware. As for IrfanView, if you still think that is the problem I would uninstall it. I would then download the latest version 3.99 from their web site. Hope this helps, good luck.

downloading free software does not slow down ur computer. u can uninstall the software and also try to restore ur system to an earlier date. u can only restore on windows XP.

.
Most all photo programs are large and hoggy.
But then, so is Internet Explorer, WORD, Adobe, all the new games, etc.
They only affect the speed of your computer when they are actually running.

So it makes sense, that when you are using a LARGE program, that you want to close the others, for the best performance.

Try that (uninstalling it). If that doesn't work check for spyware and viruses. Otherwise clear your cookies and temp Internet files. Once I nearly deleted a gig of cookies.
