I just started using ebay today, and I look ay mt account information, and I see a dollar was withdrawn. What the hell!? Already they're billing me. I live in the US and I've already been charged for over-seas transactions (ebay is in Switzerland or something) but does that happen per transaction, and has anyone else had this happen to them? And one more thing, is PayPal needed, or can I just use a checking account? Thanks.

No, Sasha. I didn't get any emails from them. I just signed up for ebay about 10 minutes ago. I'm going to sign up for a PayPal account when I get more money in my account on Monday, because they don't do any transactions or transfers (I have like 10 cents in my account) until Monday. So don't worry, I am a cautious buyer and seller. (I'm just selling stuff, though.)

They take out a dollar to verify your account...it will be back in a week or so.

It is a lot easier to use Ebay if you have Paypal...this way both the buyer and seller are protected. Sign up for Paypal using your checking account...it is safe, secure, and fast.

Also note, you may get a lot of emails that look like they are from ebay or paypal asking to verify your account info. This is called phishing and don't fall for it, only log into your account when you type in www.ebay.com or www.paypal.com.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Ebay!!

Paypal is not a requirement of an ebay account but many sellers do like it as a main payment method as it is so quick. The $1 charge is so you can verify that it is your bank account that you have put forward to make payments from. You can request this back I believe.

It is safer to go through Paypal. I can give you a link that deals with Payapl & Ebay transactions through Paypal. PayPal is one of the most popular online money transfer systems widely used for online auctions, pay to surf programs, e-books and purchase of low value goods. It is now a part of the online auction website eBay. More details available at

You don't have to have Paypal to use eBay but it does make things easier if you do, and you will get more buyers. You can't just use a checking acount to pay for items on eBay unless you have a Paypal account, then you can choose for Paypal to make payments using your checking.

I hope you didn't receive any email from PayPal lately? You may have been the victim of a phishing scam. Disable your PayPal account now, make a new one and if you get email from PayPal, check with them to be sure they sent it.

No, yet i did attempt and a great style of cases to devour soup with a spoon, rather if a soup is thick (you may thicken the soup effectively by making use of including some flour). It takes greater time, so I take exhilaration in it longer
