If your dog was sick or hurt then you have to know that you put it out of his/her misery. It is really sad but he or she still lives in your heart=) When i put my 14 year old cat down, I was so depressed but i knew it was the right thing she was old and sick and it was better for her to not have to wake up sick and sore everyday. If she/he was not sick then I don't know what to tell you, there was obviously a reason you put her or him down so no matter what it was most likely the best thing.Think of her every day and she will never be truly forgotten.

This is tough to get through. The grief is real, so take some time. You will always have your memories & that is good. After sometime consider all the love you had for your friend & then go selected an abondon dog at a shelter, then give that love to another who has none in memory of your friend.

I have been through it! Dogs are to love you and to be loved. They are to show you affection whenever you need it, there is never a time that they won't show you love. I know it is hard but you need another. Not only did I lose my pet but I lost my best friend! I took that dog all across the U.S. He was a hunting dog.
Get another!!!!!!

It's difficult, but unlike losing a human loved one, we tend to get over the loss of a pet rather quickly. We don't mourn for them like we do a loved one. It's still sad though.

no.... probably not... i know this sounds mean, but the truth is, if you really loved this dog, it will be impossible to get over...

but for now, try not to think about the fact that he's gone but how much good times you've spent together... keep the good memories.....
this might sound stupid but I had to give my turtles away and I still miss them a lot....

i had the same thing happen to me a month ago. it's very painful and there's nothing you can really do. try to get another dog and keep looking at pictures of your old dog. it helps to remember them.

I am so sorry for your loss. You start by grieving, just like any death in your family. Give yourself a break and expect all the usual things, loss of appetite, feeling of loss, etc. Do things for yourself that you like, such as a warm bath, hot tea, etc. Give yourself permission to grieve, you have lost a family member.

I feel your pain. Losing a pet is just like losing a family member. the grieving process was the same for me. Just try to remember the good times you had with your pet.

You can't. Getting a new dog will ease the pain somewhat tho- altho it wouldn't be the same, it's still something there. Best of luck--
