Poison is poison is poison.
Why not try a cat?
Mint leaves seem a good suggestion, but they don’t kill, they just keep away.
And the mice will wait out their time to be back, for sure
I am looking for a gun that kills green people, but not blue ones???

Poison will not only poison the mice, but also predators (cat or owl, for instance) that kill mice.
Best to use traps. They now sell battery-operated traps that electrocute mice. This is humane and not messy, and easy to re-use. Birds won't go into this trap, especially if you put it behind the furniture where mice are most likely to go; and the electrical jolt won't harm a cat or dog.

Put the poison in a poison dispenser: a sturdy metal box with a roof that keeps the water off and a hole in the side large enough for a rodent to walk through, staked or bolted so the ground. Try a feed store for a commercial model.
Dogs can't get into it if the box is secure, and birds don't like to crawl into holes.

No such thing, friend... If it's toxic to mice, it'll also be toxic to other animals, including dogs, birds and humans.
You'd be better off getting a cat (and keeping it away from the birds, of course).

no, however, if you put the warfarin in places the birds, pets and children can't reach, the mice should be killed and the pets still be safe. My daughter had that problem. we put the poison behind the stove, fridge, under the drawer cabinet section, and she had no mice in 2 weeks.

I think traps will be a better bet. If you give them poison you run the risk of them going off and dying inside your walls. The smell of decaying mouse is not pretty.
