I make a 60% to 100% return per year with options. But I trade it much differently than most greedy bastards who think that by buying calls and puts that they will get rich quick. Did you know that most options expire worthless? So, how then do I trade them. I write them mostly, rather than buying them. I'd rather they expire worthless on the other guy or gal. So, I buy the stock and sell calls. I also buy LEAPs, preferably 2 years out and sell calls (this requires level 3 option trading. And, finally I sell puts on stocks I want against the margin on my account. This 3rd route is also level 3 but very risky. To do this without losing my shirt, I use lot's of technical analysis. Without technical analysis, I don't believe anyone can make money in options.

Investing is like a step ladder. You need to learn and master the first step before you try the second step. If stocks were the first step you would have one price for that one stock. With Options you can have 50 or more prices, long or shot (put or calls) and dates of expiration for that same one stock. Your number of choices snow ball, making it that much harder to find the needle in the haystack.
As for making money, options are leveraged and your winning and loses are all laverages ( winning are larger and your loses are larger). So if you can select the right options and control your risk you will come out ahead.
go to the Chicago Board of Option for all your question and so good courses on options
and yes I trade options alot, 85% of the time winning now, not that way when I first started.

Yep, and I've lost a lot of money doing it too. My rule is to not put more than a couple percent of my invested capital into something as risky as this - cover the bases first and if you have a bit left give it a go.

Risky business. Try it if you don't mind taking a loss. Learn about it first though.
