About what age did you realize you were a lesbian and what happened to make you believe that? Did you tell anyone about it?

I met my future partner at the office where I was first employed. I would have been about 17-18. We had similar interests and went out together also doing gardening at each others homes. We would give each other a kiss on the cheek in the evening. This gradually became a kiss on the lips. One night Gwen said to me that we should think about where this might lead us. We decided to continue and about 3 years after meeting we purchased a house and began to live together.
I told my mother who was sad at the thought of no grandchildren but later said " Gwenneth is a wonderful person, love her and treat her kindly'
We were together for 42 years until her death.
Kind regards, Rose P.

I think every one has a unique coming out story. Some people 'just know' right away. Some people give into peer pressure for a long time until they are old enough to figure out for themselves what they like best. Some people really do change all of a sudden when they meet a specific individual. Some people are never really sure what they are but take each day as it comes. The varieties are endless.

I would focus just on your own feelings (if this question is for you) and where YOU are at emotional at your age rather than comparing yourself to others.

Some people don't realize they are gay until they are in their forties or fifities... others could never imagine it any other way.

The most important thing I'm trying to tell you is that there is no wrong or right way to be gay/bisexual!

I found out a couple pf months ago. Ive always liked the female body, but never enough to actually want too be with one. Until my ex-girlfriend. She put me through alot of crap, but it made me realize how much I really like how similar our bodies are together. Not trying to be pervy or anything. But I still like guys, just not as much. Oh! and I did tell my mom, like a week after we started going out, cause I didm't want to be disrespectful. But like she has always told me she was fine with it. My family is very open as long as you aren't hurting anyone that is. By the way Im 17 almost 18. And I know people that have been lesbian's since 7th grade. Some people just know what they want. Others it just takes while. I hope this has helped.

I remember in 1st grade liking females and being more attracted to them than males. I was always somewhat of a tomboy, and hung out with the guys. Maybe that had an affect on it, I'm not sure. I only recently came out about being a lesbian, not everyone was very accepting of it.. So, It's been hard for me.

When I was really really young I would have dreams about being in love with a woman but would wake up and ask myself how that could be. It was around when Ellen came out that I realized that I was a lesbian and it is possible to love another woman.

As far as I know right now, I'm either bi or lesbian. I knew when I was 12. I had kind of an epiphany back then. I realized (a) There are males and females (b) I wanted to live my life as a woman(I'm also trans) and (c) I was attracted to women and certain men.

I had my first crush on someone when I was in middle school. It was another girl. At the time I didn't realize it was a "crush" though. I kept it to myself for a few more years. By the time I was 16 I was fairly certain I had no interest in men. I didn't come out until I was 19 though.

Hope that was helpful!

It took me a few months to fully figure it out, but I was 15 when I finally admitted to myself that I was bisexual. I realized that I had a crush on a female friend of mine, and at first, it was a scary thought, but after a time, I told her about it. She doesn't like me in that way, but she's supportive of me. So far, only a few of my friends know, but I intend to tell my mom soon enough.
