This is strictly for curiosity. I am NOT pregnant (I am only 14 anyways). I am just wondering. Do you have to wear those super huge giant pads?

You loose about 1L (4cups) immediately. Then for the next 12ish hours or soo you bleed a fair bit and wear big pads. Then it is about the same as a period for up to 6 weeks depending on whether you take it easy and let yourself heal.

Every new mom's body is different, and I imagine there's probably some difference between those who have c-sections and those who deliver vaginally. Speaking for myself, I had a normal delivery. My postpartum bleeding lasted for about 6 weeks, and was similar to a heavy period. And yes, you have to wear pads. Tampons cannot be worn during this postpartum period.

You bleed for about 6 weeks. Give or take. Its just like a period, you wear normal pads.

You might have to wear those for the first few days, but it slowly gets lighter. Average is 6 weeks after. I bled for 6 weeks after with all 3 of my babys. Then got my period right after that...Blah!

After birth you bleed like a regular period. Yes, doctors recommend using sanitary napkins instead of tampons so as not to introduce bacterial, etc. into the freshly used uterus, etc.

BTW: at the age of 14, I sincerely hope that you are not prego!!!

It is different for every women, but in my experience it was not much worse than your period (and yes you wear pads, using tampons after would be pretty painful, childbirth leaves ya pretty tender in that area)

i bled copiously, i had to wear depends undies for the first week. then, depending on my level of activity, i only bled like a normal period. of course, it didn't hurt that i was nursing, but then..hey, whatever, you know?

For about a month. It's not ridiculous heavy flow, but it seems like it takes a long time.

For the first couple days....then you treat it like your period, for 4-6 weeks more.
