i was an anaesthetic nurse for many years so can reasure you... the majority of people wake up fine without embarassing themselves...a minority say funny things but most anaesthetic nurses are completely used to this...some people are abit weepy or mumble things...very occasionally i had aggressive patients but this was due to them being drug takers and having had drugs before the op. try not to worry..the staff will be used to whatever happens and you most likely will never know.

I have worked in more theatres than I care to remember I it is very rare that I have seen anyone coming out of the operation swearing and saying things outragouse. I am not saying it does not happen it does but very rare. People are winding you up.
Most people come round asking "where are they" "Is it over" and fall back to sleep as long as we can wake them up and make sure that their pulse and blood pressure are ok and any wounds which is done every fifteen min we let them sleep.
Do not worry you will be fine and good luck with operation.

Do not worry im a nurse and work in recovery . Patients generally just get tearful or keep asking the time.
You will be fine and have nothing to worry about you wont remember recovery and once you come around from the anaesthetic which takes around 30 mins to feel yourself sometimes quicker , you will just feel very sleepy and sometimes can get emotional. You will not tell all your secrets and let the skeletons out the closet. Relax you will be fine.
Hope this helps you to relax Suzi xx

I've never had surgery but 2 of my friends have. One said that she kept grilling the nurse with questions when drifting in and out of conciousness. Her mom said it was really funny she would scream like WHO R U LEAVE ME ALONE!!! then she would lose conciousness wake up again and say the same thing. the other friend said that she was pretty much high when she was waking up. happy and smiling and not having a care in the world. personally i dont think that would be so bad. good luck with ur surgery! hope this helps!

Crying is probably the most normal reaction. I also couldn't remember the rest of the day. Actually, it was quite funny. A few weeks later, I said to one of my good friends, "You know, I'm kinda hurt that you didn't ask how my surgery went." And she cracked up and said, "Dummy, you called me when you got home."
So maybe I woke up a swearing maniac, but I don't remember. But don't sweat it. You wake up in recovery and whatever you do, the nurses know you're under.

They are trying to wind you up. I have had surgery before and it went smoothly. They are just tryna mess with your mind. The doctors give you a medicine which puts you to sleep instantly so waking up in the middle of operations is like nil to none.

I normally wake up crying my eyes out and talking total crap! It feels a bit like drinking ten pints in two minutes but it's very funny. However you feel when you wake up do not worry about it. The nurses will be used to whatever reaction you have and they won't mind at all.
Good luck with it, you'll be fine x

Please don't worry. When I woke up I was freezing cold (a common side effect) and I was trying to get out of the bed as I wanted to go home - so I was told!!!
