The cost of setting up a website with high production values is horrendous. If your site doesn't look good then people may find it but not hang around. You'd have to be selling something pretty unique to even have a chance at success.

Dude, you might be better off putting the money in T-Bills and listing a few items on e-Bay before taking a huge financial plunge into your own website.

Probably not. Lots of people have tried to get rich on the internet and failed. A lot more than have succeeded. But what the hell, try anyway! That is if it doesn't cost you too much. Even if you don't make money you'll learn something. No shame in failure. If you're not failing, you're not trying. You owe it to yourself to do what YOU want. Most people have more regrets about what they DIDN'T do than what they did. Don't go in with any delusions of grandeur. Have fun with it! Go for it!

It's not unheard of, but the odds are against you. If you have a chance, you'll need a high quality website and you'll really need to work on your search engine marketing. Utilizing public relations wouldn't hurt either.

Sure it can be realistic but it is also very competitive. You need to learn all you can but if this is what you want, then make the decision to do it and the how to will follow.
