I have tried the fn+blue keys and nothing. I know very little about computers, expecially taking them apart.

I assume you have an ac adapter, if so, take the battery out of the notebook, disconnect the ac adapter.

Remove the battery - I know this sounds stupid, but press the power button.

WITHOUT the battery installed reconnect the ac adapter.

Try pressing the power switch.

See what happens.

Good luck.

IBM Thinkpads have a power reset procedure:

1. Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter
2. Press the power button 10 times
3. Hold the power button in for 10 seconds
4. Plug in the AC adapter and see if the laptop turns on
5. If so, power down, and re-insert the battery

If that does not work try the Hardware Maintenance Manual using the following link.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4UZMN7

If problems persist you may have a faulty mainboard.

Don't listen to the other person. Just plug in the power adapter and then try again.
