Dolphins live in water yet they breath air. They have a blow hole located on the top of their head which opens and closes according to the water pressure. If a dolphin is trapped below the surface of the water in a net, it will not drown as the blow hole will never open underwater, rather, a dolphin will suffocate from lack of air.

Dolphins, like all other mammals, DO NOT BREATHE WATER.

They have a blowhole at the top of their head and hold their breath while in the water. To breathe they must surface. Dolphins swim with lungs empty and inhale and exhale when they surface.

Hope that helped!

They only breathe air. They come to the surface and get air, then go down into the water for awhile then resurface. They have a blowhole ( like a whale ) that helps with this and they can hold their breath for a long time.

Because they are mammals like us. A fish can breathe underwater, because its gills can filter the oxygen out of the water. Dolphins like humans do not have gills, so they cannot filter oxygen out of the water. That is why they surface to breathe air.

They don't breathe water. They hold their breath under water. Like you do in a pool.

You should read about dolphins. There are lots of websites and books.

They don't breathe water, they breathe air like us and have to hold their breath underwater. They have a blowhole at the top of their head they can breathe through, and they can hold thier breath for about 2 mins while swimming.

they don't breathe water, they must surface at least every 20 minutes or so in order to take in more air. they are just rally good at using the air they do take in.
