If you believe in the Great flood, why don't we talk about all being decendants of Noah?

Just curious as to what people think about this! Do you believe that that his sons represented the different ethnic races?

because other mythologies had the same story...gilgamesh for example.....african creation myths.... and also a native american one...and they all have the same thing in common, a huge flood and a big boat!

Who says we don't talk about everyone descending from Noah? His sons are the forefathers of all ethnic groups- but a lot of time has passed since then. What we see today is the result of years of isolation of tribes and peoples... now we're all in a global melting pot and turning into 'hybrids'... cheers!

The root of the flood myth was the flooding of the Black Sea, about 5-6,000 years ago, which was previously a lower-than-sea-level fertile valley. A quake opened up a gap for sea water to flow into that valley.

Most people in the world were totally unaffected by that flood.

have you ever heard of the story of Abram? he wasn't very far from Adam and Eve. God said to Abram, "i you do what i say and follow my instructions, you will have as many descendant as there are stars in the sky, and sand on the beach." well, to make a long story short, Abram did what God wanted him to do. so God added a "Ha" to his name and made Abram Abraham and gave him a couple of kids. his descendants were the only ones that lived.

but a couple hundred years later, Abraham's descendants were turning away from God, all except one: Noah. so God told Noah to build an ark because he was going to flood the world in order to save all of the animals and save all of the riotous people. well, you know the rest.

so you are right that we are Noah's descendants, but Noah was Abraham's decedent....

Like Adam, all people are his descendants. God's first command to the primordial pair to "be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the earth" Gen. l.28 is God's first command to Noah and his sons after the Flood.

The biblical tale, as with many others, is entirely fictitious. The present races probably evolved within the past 100,000 years as populations moved from Africa to Europe and to Asia, and were then isolated from each other by distance and natural calamities such as ice ages. When you have separation of population, you get differential evolution; the most obvious examplie being the unique fauna and flora of Australia, which separated from the Gondwanaland land mass 90 million years ago.

If the Noah account is true, then we did descend from him and his sons and their wives. As for ethnic features, either our environments help to shape these or they come from the immediate Noah family.

This is one of my main issues with Christianity, among many many more (I converted to Paganism) There is so much that doesn't make sense. The Bible seems to be a buncha fiction, and it contradicts itself many many times throughout the book. So I guess I don't have a real answer, it's just nice to see that someone has the same questions about Christianity that I do.
