I would have to say that service would be #1, but food and beverage can help convey what status of a hotel you have.

For example if you bar only serves McCormics it may not appeal to the same clientele that would prefer Grey Goose.

I dont think so. I travel a lot due to my career. I stay in very many different types of hotels. The first thing I look at is presentation...the most important thing on my list is how clean the hotel is. How it smells, how clean it looks is much more important to me than food and beverage. The worst things to me are when there are stains on bed sheets, carpets and the room doesnt smell right. OH....and my all time favorite is hair in the tub or bed.

You can serve a 7 course gourmet meal with top of the line drinks but whats the point if I cant eat it because Im disgusted of my surroundings?

If my room is not so clean, how can the food be?

Funny thing is...I have actually stayed in a Holiday Inn that costs me around $110.00 a night and it was cleaner than some of the top of the line hotels I have stayed at that cost me over $300.00 a night.

Frankly, if your hotel is not clean...I rather stay home and drive nails into my toes.

No, I am a manager @ a hotel. It's differenct for each guest, however; the first thing that refelcts the image is the presentation (entrance) and the front desk staff. Then it's things like the amenities (such as facilities, food, etc..)
