Almost everybody likes porn but still why it is a 'bad' thing?

Pornography being a bad thing is based on our societies perception of it. In the U.S., we were raised on a puritan foundation dating back to the Pilgrims, and this foundation has influenced our views of many things, including pornography. While we all like sex, many people find pornography objectionable because they were ‘taught’ it was bad, just as many people view some sexual experiences as bad (anal, oral, etc.) because they have been told they were bad, usually by their mother. For an interesting article that discusses different peoples perception of pornography, use the link:

and read the article ‘Nudity: Pornography or Art?’. It gives some very interesting insight about peoples perception of pornography.

Now everyone please keep in mind that I'm talking about normal porn here - consensual sex, on tape, between two adults. Not illegal child porn, not porn where men also physically assault women, etc.

I think it depends on how old you are and also where you live in the U.S. (that is if you are in the U.S.) I don't know many people that think porn is "bad" - then again, I live in Los Angeles. On top of that, I'm educated and so are the majority of my friends. The only time porn is bad, is when someone becomes obsessed with it. However, almost anything is bad when a person becomes obsessed with it, including food.

There are a lot of young people on here, so that could explain a little of why they think porn is bad. There are also a lot of religious people on here who are extremely conservative - I say extremely conservative religious people because I know people who are catholics, christians, etc. but who still do not think porn is BAD.

I think porn is good if used correctly. You've got to try new things when you are in a long term relationship - and one way to do this is to watch porn with your girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife and do the things that you see (and are comfortable with).

Smoking is a bad thing because it has been linked to cancer, and shown to have a CAUSAL relationship with cancer. Although porn might be linked with SOMETHING bad, like sexual addiction, the relationship is mostly likely one where people who are already sexual addicts, are drawn to porn. There is a difference between a correlational relationship and a causal relationship. I hope people can get that through their thick heads.

P.S. I'm a woman and I enjoy watching porn. Many of my female friends enjoy watching it with their boyfriends/husbands. Also, the women in porn don't look perfect - there are many shapes and sizes in porn. In fact I think if you watch some, you'll see that no one looks perfect when they are assuming weird positions. If porn makes someone feel insecure about their body/sexual performance, then that's their issue. In my opinion you must be pretty insecure if you let porn and the girls in it make you feel like you aren't "all that".

I hate to analyze, and be a bi.t.c.h at the same time, but the woman below me was probably raised in an extrememly conservative home, and taught that sex was dirty and sinful. She probably isn't ok with using sex toys, dressing up, and acting out her boyfriend/husbands fantasies in bed. Porn probably makes her feel very inadequate in bed because it awakens her to the fact that there are women out there who are uninhibited and will try different things and be more experimental in bed. Probably makes a woman wonder if her husband is going elsewhere to get those things.

First, not "almost everybody" likes it. Quite a lot of people HATE it.

To understand why people hate porn, consider WHAT it is: a graphic representation of a human being, perfectly proportioned, dressed, and posed, with the explicit function of exciting a sexual response in the viewer. This is NOT art; it is a sex toy POSING as art.

Porn dehumanizes human beings. It creates and perpetuates
the idea that human beings are merely objects of our physical lusts, not people that want and need to be related to, appreciated as a person, romanced, be devoted to, loved. It also sets up impossible ideals of what is sexually "acceptable"; few people can attain the "perfection" found in a professionally dressed/posed/lighted/liposuctioned model! Finally, what groups of people are usually (and I say "usually" for a reason) used as models in pornography? WOMEN AND CHILDREN. Yes, there are some male porn models, but the majority of porn viewed is viewed by men, lusting after either women or children. The constant dehumanization of these groups of people has a vicious
affect on society. Relationships fall apart, sexual fetishes develop, rapes are committed, children have their lives ruined.

Pornography gives NOTHING back to society. It is a parasite that should be abolished.

Matthew 5:28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.
