why some ppl take pride in being from a poor neighborhood like lets say a ghetto ?? why would you be proud of being poor and living in a place where most ppl don't have jobs or go to school but hang outside on cornors all day drinking and selling narcotics ?

I guess you have to be proud of what you have, even if it's nothing. It's better than being miserable all the time.

Some people brag about being "tough" or from a rough neighborhood cause it gives them some sort of place above others. While others are proud that they made it through that time of there life. Being poor isn't something you should put your head down about.

yes i have,but i believe it has something to do with the culture things and the differences between white/black/mmexican etc. they want something aside for themselves but evrytime they do someone omes along and takes it. but its not really something to be proud of they should make it nice and not drink and shoot up and not everyone in the "ghetto" does that, alot of people just cant afford living in the better neiborhoods so they have to.

I think that those who manage to go on and do something with their life are proud of their humble beginnings and success in life. One should never be ashamed about where they come from.

its alright if ya do sumpthin with your life and get outta there cause then you can say "yeah, i came from there and look at me now" but it is sad when people are proud of sellin drugs and being violent and things like that cause those people are letting that life get the best of them and drag them down and they dont even realize it.

Maybe they are not truly proud, but really unsure if they will ever be able to leave that environment. When they think they will be stuck there forever, they have to do what they can . ( I don't mean selling drugs is doing what they can. I mean it mentally).

Because of their heritage. If their parents are from a ghetto...then they are going to be proud they're from a ghetto because most kids want to follow in their parents footsteps.

Well, because this is sort of like someone's heritage, you are still proud of it and the good things about it. all neighborhoods have good and bad, as do all heritages.
