I've just seen this film and don't understand the "sign language" in the scene at the v. end when his wife is in prison and he's outside looking up. What is she trying to tell him?

I can't believe people don't actually read the questions...how hard is this question, anyway?

What a shame some people have seen fit to give you answers, without having seen the film. I saw it many years ago, and I believe it's "I love you" or "I'm sorry". Maybe we're not supposed to understand, but it's the fact that the two of them do, so it could be a personal thing, distancing the viewer (it is the most distancing of the three films after all).

I don't know the film, but I can explain the reference.

If you are using coloured paints, or coloured leaves, or any coloured solid, you are discussing pigment. Pigments appear to the human eye as the colour they reflect, rather than absorb. The three primary colours in pigment are red, yellow, blue, and if mixed in equal proportion, you get black. (White is the ABSENCE of pigment. Kinda obvious.)

If you are talking about coloured light, the colours appear to the human eye as they are. A rainbow is an optical presentation of all colours (visible to the human eye), as light, being refracted by rain, or crystals. The three primary colours of light -- which is what you see on your monitor, or telly -- are red, green, and blue (usually called 'magenta, yellow, and cyan). Combine all the colours of the rainbow, or the three main ones, and you get pure white light. (Black is the ABSENCE of light... kinda obvious, too.)

Hope that helps. *shrug* I hope it explains the film ending for you.
