One of mine is "Silence on the line" by Chris Ledoux - about a rodeo cowboy who calls home and tells his wife that he has a friend who has been disabled from rodeo. He is all crippled up. Can he come live with them.
The wife goes quiet and says she needs a real man for there is a lot of work to do on the farm. There would be nothing for his friend to do there.
