background information?

I'm doing a science fair project on: 'which color nail polish dries faster/slower than red?' and I've alread done the research part on it, but I'm having trouble on how to start phrasing my background information...any ideas on how to start?

The color has to do with pigments in the polish. Does drying involve the evaporation of water or of volitols ? Since the colors probably come from FDA colors, check their website for information.
