Why is an angel placed on the top of a Christmas tree? When I was younger my parents rarely put up a Christmas tree so I am just wondering what the meaning is...I would like to put an angel on the top of my tree but when I went shopping for one I seen there were Santas and snowmen as well....

Angel was the one who shined bright and announced to the Shepperd's that a child was born. Some people put Angel on top of their tree to announce that Jesus is born to a sin sick world to redeem us back to GOD.

You can put a star or an Angel on top of your Christmas Tree as long as you know that JESUS came to reconcile us back to our loving GOD all of our Fathers.

Isn't that something? What they want to ban the angel now, cause they think it's a religious symbol and so they gotta ban it or what? Isn't that ridiculous if that is what it is.

I think the original meaning was the Angel that told Mary she was with child, and that child would be Christ. Gabriel? An Archangel I think.

Now it can also be a symbol of kindness, love, and most of all returning light.

If you can't find you're Angel topper at the Walmart, but they always used to have those nice fiber optic Angels, I would just hop over to the nearest New Age! Ironically enough, cause now they are into Angels. Who can figure?! Have a Merry Christmas.

Oh, how bout' Martha Stewart. Now that she is out of the slammer, she could probably help you get or make one off of her website. Or a crafter could, a craft fair.

People traditionally put an angel or a star at the top of the tree because in the right light it looks like it is floating above and they convey either a holy star for jesus or angel of protection or love to add a spiritual touch to the tree itself.

Peace!

Go back to the story The Birth of Christ. Angles watched from on high. They appeared to the shepherds & told of the miracle born in Bethleham. Thus we place an Angel on the top of our tree as a symbol & also to ask Christ to watch over our home & those gathered there.

Angel signifies a holy spirit who is watching you all the time, to be more precise, angel is no other than God himself. On the top of the tree means he is on the top of all of us, who are created by him and he's on the top to guide us and watch us all the time, in pleasure or pain.

Merry Christmas.
