Who were James Joyce's good friends while growing up? or did he have any?

I am writing a paper showing Stephen's relations with friends as he grows into the artist. We have to relate it back to James Joyce but I am not sure if he had that many friends. HELP!

Stephen meaning Stephen from The Portrait of the Artist as the Young Man.

I guess you would have to get a biography on Joyce. According to wikipedia Stephen's friends and enemies were based upon people Joyce did know, but that is all I can find out.
