I would Say Negril.
It has over 7 miles of beaches and a lot of different levels of accommodations. Negril is also easy to get around. and there are several places to rent scooters. I will be in Negril Dec 30th.

Montego Bay is were most of the first timers to Jamaica go.
It is very touristy and it shows. spend a day there then go to Negril. you will see a Huge difference in the 2.

Hey, we stayed in Negril for 2 weeks in a small family run hotel called Falcon Cottages. It is basic accommodation with great food in the restaurant. The staff are all real friendly. The have their own web site, if you contact them they ll give you the prices.
Our stay was that enjoyable the we are going back for 3 months possibly in February.
Its is located near the cliffs about 5-10minutes walk from the main beach.
I think horses will be out the question for riding near the hotel, but on one of our excursions we did do horse riding for a full day. they take you up into the hills for a few hours, and end the day letting you ride through the sea.

Roots Bamboo on the beach in Negril. Small one room cabins for $30 a night ..........right on the beach! Stayed there a few times. Total Blast! With the money you save you can venture to other parts of the island for a night or two. Have fun!

Sounds like Negril. It's a very laidback town. Perfect for relaxing with the beach right by you.
