Why is it that shirts have a pocket on the left side of the chest rather then on the right?

Because most people are right handed and it would be ackward pulling something out of the right pocket with the right hand....

I think the main reason is that most of the people are right handed ('righty'). It is convinient to take out something with your right hand when the pocket is on the left side of the shirt.
Thus looking at the convinience of the majority of masses, the designers give a pocket on the left side of shirt.
For the same reason, pants have a back pocket on the right side... it is easier for a righty to take out the things when the back-pocket is on the right side.

Most men are right handed. Try to stick your hand into a pocket on the right side. Isn't it easier to put it into a pocket on the left side? Just seems natural for it to be on the left side.

Just a quess, but, its probably because most people are right handed and its easier to reach accross your chest to put something in or out of the pocket.

Because a majority of people are right handed and it would be much harder getting things out of the right-side pocket.

9 out of 10 people are right handed, so by having the pocket on the left breast it make it easier for the right hand to reach./
