People say that the Sphinx holds ancient secrets and tombs to great kings. Some say that it is a tribute to some sort of God. So what is it really about, is it just another burial place for a pharoah, or something more?

The Sphinx is the guardian of the pyramids, and was meant to scare wanderers/tomb robbers who got too close. It was built as a monument to a king, but even though the stela (stone) in front of it says it was built for a certain king, there is no evidence to support it and the Egyptologists are not really sure who it was built for. It is in a solid piece of stone, so no secrets inside, just the mystery of who it belongs to.

The Sphinx is generally considered the guardian.
It has the body of a lion to symbolize strength and the head of a man to symbolize intelligence.

The europeans destroyed the noses and lips of the sphinx (Giza) because it looked too ethnic (*****). But the paintings in the pyramids revealed how the pharoahs looked like.

I've heard the possibility, it was carved a few thousand years before the pyramids, when the area was lush vegetation. There is possible evidence of this from erosion of the walls of the quarry surrounding the figure. There is also clear evidence, the head of the statue has been radically changed several times from it's original shape, thus the resulting, and obvious, lack of symmetry between the head and the remaining body.
Oh yes, the hidden room under the left paw....they found a large thorn and removed it, Sphinx boy feels better now.

If you could not answer this riddle you would be killed. The answer is--four legs is a baby, the morning of your life. Two legs is your adulthood, the afternoon of your life and three legs in the evening is a man with a cane in the twilight of his life.

i think that its one of the greatest mysteries of the world. nobody really knows why its there. all i know is it was built somewhere by the Great Pyramid, and holds King Khufu's son's image. i personally think it was to intimidate grave robbers from taking treasure. it said 'dont do that or the great stone powerful pharaoh will eat your head'. something like that. but the reasons behind it died with the creator(s). sorry.
