like with any computer, it depends what it is going to be used for. just for interent, email, school papers, well any computer can do that. the more high tech games that will be played on it, or the more digital video and music editing that will be done the more suped up the computer components have to be to handle the work, the more expensive the computer. i'd stick with name brands known for quality, because laptops are harder to fix and the battery quality really affects how the computer gets used.
