In World of Warcraft you have two costs :

The initial cost of the game if you buy the CDs from a store. According to Amazon.com, that cost ranges from $0.99 (used) upwards to their own store price of $19.99 - be careful with used copies as they may already have used the CD-key involved with it.

The second cost is the ongoing monthly cost. This can be paid in two ways -

1) Through a game card - two months worth of access for $29.99 (per Amazon.com again - you likely can get this cheaper in local stores, I'm not sure).
or
2) Via credit card direct with Blizzard Entertainment, which is set up when you install the game and create your account - this is set at 14.99 per month with discounts if you pay in 3 or 6 month lots (3 months - 13.99 per month), (6 months - 12.99 per month)

You are able to alternate between these two methods.

Well the game itself is about $20-$40 (game, plus there is an expansion pack) depending where you buy it. But, you can find free trials at a few places online so your first few days can be free. . . .(www.fileplanet.com is one with a 10 day trial). If you get a trial first you'll avoid having to go buy a boxed copy, so you can just get the entire thing online. Then you have to pay monthly as a fee to play, which is around $15 per month.

I checked into this the other day.

15 dollars a Month,.. but you have to buy the CDs from a store,...

There is a 10 day free trial but you probably still have to buy the CDs at a store.

With these monthly things some times they are free, some times a dollar,.. some times the first months are free when you buy it for 30 dollars,.. some times it's 100. You just have to check around because the stores pull different prices some times.
