well, i've seen everything now......... i reported a guy last week because he was advertising his own product / website instead of asking a proper question. as far as i know, it's against the rules to do this on Yahoo Answers..... today i got a violation notice because this guy has complained against me reporting him !!!!!!!!!! so my question is, do the people who run Yahoo Answers actually investigate these reports properly, of do they just dish out violation notices to anything that's been reported to them ? what are your views on this, and have u experienced similar violation notices for something as totally ridiculous as this ??? (i have appealed against the violation, so hopefully yahoo will use some common sense.........)

I had a violation warning for a communication fault, when I presented a puzzle, and put a little info about the solution afterwards, I read the terms and conditions, and I was innocent of it all. But Yahoo didn't re-track
I think you were right to report the scam, and understand if you report someone your identity is hidden.
The email might be a scam itself, so check that out, and don't worry about it, Yahoo won't cancel your membership, and as it wasn't a question or answer nothing will be unobtainable from your Yahoo answers site, just be sure you told Yahoo what you think of the v notice.

I don't believe they check anything and just issue the violations. It seems it's easier for them to do that than to check every note of abuse.

Many people will report you for even saying something that they don't agree with, which is silly.

Nope, they sure don't and it bugs the crap out of me. I reported a guy for asking a totally rude and unnecessary question, and it has not been deleted. Then two of my questions were deleted right after that, and I'm pretty sure it was him that deleted me. It makes me so mad!

Not as of yet has yahoo done anything to rectify the unjust part of this to my knowledge.
Wish I had better news for you.
Take care....the same has happened to me.

It's like the one a day vitamin. You take one and then get on with what you're doing.
