OK, I'm just wondering, what do people have against guys who wear makeup? I mean I do it for two reasons #1 to get an uprising out of people because they don't like it, #2 I wan't to look like my idols from Motley Crue, and no I'm not gay or a transvestite. Is it society that has messed with all of your heads and changed you from what people would have thought was totally awesome back in the 80s.

I am a mother of a teenager who does this. Funny thing of it is I could not wear the stuff back in the day, allergic. Now a days I do not need it. So when I went with the kid to help him buy his makeup I really could not help him to much.
Men or males have been wearing makeup since the dawn of times. Very old custom. Women in the most part did not wear it, the men did.
So for today people throwing fits about this etc. I feel is very naive. Uneducated people are the ones who throw the biggest fits. Sorry to say but here in America it is almost cool to be uneducated.
Do not worry about what others think, does not seam like you do care! I on other hand am used to seeing guys in makeup...

Well, if you want to appear "different", that's one possible way of going about it. But for option #2, consider this. Motley Crue, KISS, Poison...whomever...they all wear makeup as part of a stage persona. It's not a reflection of who they truly are, it's just a showbiz image. Peter Gabriel wore elaborate makeup when he was the lead singer of Genesis in the 70's. But that's just a performer doing an act, not something to take seriously.
Think about it...when you hang with your buds, is there conversation like, "Hey dude, nice eyeshadow and lip gloss combo. That new Max Factor line rocks, homey!" There's plenty of things you can do just to "shock" people who you think are too conservative, but wearing makeup isn't a creative way to achieve that. Some may see it as a cheap way of getting attention and nothing more. Just my opinion only.

I can't speak for everyone who has something "against" it. But as for me, I think there are just some things made for a woman and some things made for a man; makeup, is one of those things made for a woman to me. I am not fond of men wearing earrings either. One way or the other I am not "against" it, I just have my own opinion.
Overall, my spiritual beliefs have barring on the matter. Because, the bible speaks of a man NOT adorning himself like a female.
Deuteronomy 22:5
5 A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this.
To each his own, but I think there is a fine line between looking feminine and acting it; from a distance, who would know the difference. Now, the makeup that you are making comparisons of (rock bands, goth etc) is wayyyyyyyyy different than how a man who makes himself up to favor a woman anyway.

I think it's just because people have an expectation of how people should act in society. Those that see it as against their image of that perfect society will generally be those that have something against it.
Case in point... as you can see in the answers, there are going to be people who incorrectly associate it with sexuality, gender issues and other such things.
You've got your own reasons for doing it, and they happen not to be what others are saying and suggesting... It personally doesn't bother me - if it's what you want, then go for it.

I think the problem isn't so much makeup, as much as it's the fact that you idolize Motley Crue. How can anyone take you seriously?

You Rock Dude,the only reason why people are against it cuz "only women Wear makeup" bull sh*t! lol my boyfriend wore make up,alot of awesome Rock & metal Bands wear make up,its awesome that your keeping the 80's Style. just dont listen to what they say dude just keep on rockin'!

Nothing wrong with it at all! I was a huge Duran Duran fan back in the 80's, and they were sexy to me (makeup and all)...

I didn`t like it even in the eighties. I think it looks silly for guys to wear makeup, and even some gals over do it too. I want a guy to look like a guy.

guys can wear make! I have a hint..if your going to wear makeup make sure its done by a girl and you can't see it..........no one will even notice.....that is if the girl doesn't spread the news.

the majority of guys who i hang with either wear makeup all time/occasionally or have worn makeup at some time.
guys who wear makeup are HOT and don't let anyone else tell you different
