no, its not slander unless its completely fabricated and you have to prove damages.

It'll probably be hard to successfully sue him, because of the fact that the two of you are in a relationship.
Lawyers will have no problem pointing out that you're in a relationship together for x amount of time, that you've stayed with him because of it, that he has a drinking/control problem (or whatever problem they want to use...).
It'll probably be a lot more expensive and troublesome than it's actually worth doing.
It's not particuarly nice or healthy for someone to put another down in a relationship. You don't go into details as to what's being said, but I had a friend who decided to stay with her SO despite him putting her down and battering her emotionally. She refused to end the relationship and gives everyone the impression that everything is fine now.
If he can't treat you with respect, he doesn't deserve you.

the guy I am having an affair with has a significant other he does this to, is it you??? He like to do it to you because he thinks you like it. It is his expressive comedy. You seem to blow this way out proportion at times. I know I have been there. Not to worry though I don't want him full time, he needs it because you do not give hime enough because you are always mad at him. I feel sorry for him. So it is pity sex from me because we are all friends. You should feel good he talks to you at all after the fuss you have been putting up about nothing. Oh and shave your legs for gosh sakes you are not in europe.
it is time to go to the sandbox and find someone else. You obviously are a doormat for him. You have no leg to stand on in court unless he threatened you. Move on and use one of the other 300 million people in the USA or 6.5 billion in the world.

If he calls you names and belittles you all the time, why is he your "significant" other? Even though he does not hit you, this is an abusive relationship.
You need to re-examine why you are in this relationship and make plans to end it. This may be different if there are children involved, but counselling will help, even if he won't go.

Good for you for defending yourself. I hope you can sue him for slander. It would be very satisfying.
Then sue him for divorce. The most fundamental thing in a relationship is respect. That kind of behavior is abusive and need not be tolerated.

It's slander if he knows what he said was untrue and caused great damage to your reputation. If that happened to you, then yes you can. I'm not sure if you'll get too much out of it though.

Sure you can so long as you can prove damage to your reputation. But it will be expensive and damages for such losses may be small. Also he will have a defence to any action if he can show that it is either true or is "fair comment"

No, you can only sue for slander (or libel, depending on how it's done) when someone actually lies about you to other people. This is just immaturity.

If you are not happy with his treatment then why dont you grow up and leave him??? You dont have to put up with being treated like dirt - simply leave and get yourself some respect!

NO YOU CAN'T. WHY IN THE HELL ARE YOU PUTTIN' UP WITH THIS? YOU NEED TO SPEND SOME TIME WITH YOURSELF,AND GET TO KNOW WHO THE HELL YOU ARE. I BET THIS WOULDN'T BE A QUESTION IF HE WAS DOING THIS IN FRONT OF YOUR PARENTS. GO TELL YOUR DAD IF THAT'S OK, I BET IT WOULDN'T BE YOUR CHOICE ANYMORE. GET A CLUE, AND GET RID OF YOUR PAINFUL RECTAL ITCH. GOOD LUCK, CREAM WON'T HELP WITH THIS ONE.
