i have asked the question a lot,,and people get mad when you say something bad about a Honda ,and really they give as much trouble as any other car does,i own a repair shop, and sometimes if wasn't for broken Honda,s i wouldn't have anything to do,but I'm glad someone asked this question,if they are that confident in there product,,why don't they offer a better warranty on them, the American companies are offering good warranty's now,so i think Honda should also,,i have owned a Honda before, and it gave me as much problems as any other car i have owned before, but im glad you asked this,,its going to interesting to see the answers on this one,,good luck,,,seriously when you think about it,,it makes good sense, have a better warranty, and sell more cars,

Honda did recently increase its factory warranty
It used to be 3 years/36,000 miles for ever but on the 06' and newer now the power train warranty is until 60,000 miles
Honda is a very repetuble product but like anything else it is a machine so anything can go wrong just like any other car, the difference is that Honda of America is MUCH more likely to offer "Goodwill warranty" Assistance should there be a repair needed after the warranty period elapses. For example Honda extended the transmission warranty to 100,000 miles on all 99-01 Accords and odysseys
No company can warranty a car for longer than 100,000 miles and the only reason companys like Kia and Hyundai offer that because there is no other way they can compete with Honda/Toyota because they are obviously substandard vehicles.
It all comes down to the fact that if you maintain it properly you are much more likely to get the most mileage out of a vehicle.Do you reallty expect to have a company warranty a repair on a 1991 Accord with 195,000 miles (15years/200,000 miles)????

because 200,000 is too risky. people swear those cars will get up to 200,000 and they do but that is the expected life of a car. and if they offer that kind of warrant most of us are going to take full advantage of the warranty and in result honda will lose lots of money. honda cant gamble with thing like that because they arent a real big company. but they do offer extend warranties 8 years/ 120,000.

If they were to extend the warranty, they would have to sell the car for more money. People claim ridiculous things as a warranty matter just for the sake of it. With millions of Honda Owners doing that, the car would have to be sold for too much money. Its keeps costs down for us and profits up for them. So it works out in the end for both parties

well, car companies cant really afford financially to do things like that, alot of the time, its how the person drives/owns the car. if that person always keeps his oil fresh and tires checked, and other maintenance things like that up to date, his car will naturally run longer than a car with a procrastinative owner that only changes oil every 11,000 miles or lets his tires wear uneavenly. Car companies find the distance that their cars will run despite the owner and avg it to find how far they can make their warranty. If they made it too long, they would bee paying to fix peoples cars taht just didnt want to pay to do things like oil changes and then when something major happens to teh engine becasue of it.

Toyota had the most recalls last year, and they dont want to pay for all the little problems that pop up after the warranty is gone. GM has a longer warranty, and has anti-corrosion and roadside assistance included. Who do you think is really more confident in thier vehicles now.

They CAN. they just won't. that'd be stupid. And don't believe everything you hear, I've heard that 'my car lasts 300,000 miles' from everyone about every type of car, and they're all liars. The point of car companies is to get you to buy a new car every 5-10 years, or they make less money. the end.
