I much prefer liquid eyeliner- either Prestige or Almay. I think pencil liners are almost impossible to sharpen. If you prefer the pencil ones, though, a lot of drugstore companies make self-sharpening ones that shouldn't break- cover girl, for one.
Also: I've heard that storing a pencil eyeliner in the fridge a few minutes before sharpening it will keep it from breaking. However, it will glide on more easily if you hold it near a lightbulb for a few seconds.

Before you buy them, see if they're any samples and test on your hand. If it glides smoothly, you have a winner. I personally perfer Elizabeth Arden. You sharpen them and it won't break in the sharpener. Or you can use the ones in Swivel Sticks. Both glide smoothly on the eye. Won't tug on the skin like the khol eyeliners. Khol's are good because the color is deep and rich. But they are very though on the skin and break when you sharpened them.

Clinique's gel eyeliner. it comes in a little pot and has a little brush, too...it'll last a long time and it won't break. the little brush makes it easy to apply. other than that, I like Mary Kay pencils. I haven't had one break yet, and they don't make my eyes itch like some other brands.

I use Cover Girl's perfect point plus, it's the best eyeliner i've ever used.

Mac..I prefer the eye kohl...it's a bit softer than just an eye pencil. I haven't had any problems with it breaking.

Barry M is great because it is soft khol they dont snap easily. they also have loads of different colours so you have a great selection to choose from!

I personally like avon glimmersticks. It pratically slides on and it stays too. Also, i like to smudge it....which is easy with this eyeliner.
it is one one the twisty ones so you don't sharpen it! it is great!!
