okay, my friends and i have to do a skit revolving around the first scene of romeo and juliet for english, the only rule is we have to use the exact words. so my question is... what kind of... voice or actions should we use, to make it different. sort of like the way the movie William Shakespears Romeo and Juliet is.

Sorry to be the one to break it to you, but "making it different" really isn't a useful goal, in and of itself. The reason that Baz Luhrmann's film was so successful is NOT that he "made it different," but because he found a compelling way to tell Shakespeare's story. You and your cast need to sit down, read the scene (better yet, read the entire play), and then kick around your own ideas of what it means, what it's saying, and how it could most effectively be staged. Ask yourselves: at what point does MY personal experience intersect with the story that Shakespeare is telling? Answer that one, and you'll be well on your way.

These plays have been captivating audiences for 400+ years. Don't worry about being "different;" be true to the text, and people will dig it. Guaranteed.

Read the poem THE PLAY by C. J. Dennis, it's in a book called The Selected Verse of C J Dennis and also Songs of a Sentimental Bloke. It's very funny and might give you some ideas. It is written in the vernacular and that helps make it amusing, so perhaps an exaggerated Australian accent would be good.

well i remember that the Cosby show did a rap. Try and think of something unique like that, maybe even a dance. square dancing to the words would be funny!
