I just wanted to add, that this preg. was not expected. i am mother of 4. so I got rid of all maternity clothing.
$30 is alot of money for clothing that will be worn for such little time. I am petite, but u might imagine after 4 kids, my uterus exploded w/this one. I amvery pregnant @4 mo.
better things to spend my money on, grocery college savings, nice thihngs for my home.
def. will try the thrift store,

thanx didnt know old navy had maternity.

I think that if someone had the money to invest in starting a maternity clothing line for the larger woman, then they would make big money. I am a plus size lady and have had the worst time finding maternity wear in plus sizes. Lane Bryant is apparently starting a new line sometime this December but I agree with you! I think it is way too expensive to pay for $30 pants that will only be worn for a few months and then discarded. If the pants don't fit right then buy something in a larger size so that it will be looser and not show the shape. It will also be more comfortable with more room. I wear a lot of sweats and fleece bottoms nowadays and mix and match them with comfortable tops. I also bought three different nice wool sweaters (in navy, off white, and black) and wear them over my tops to make me feel more comfy. You can also compensate for the lack of style or design by accessorizing with beads or jewelry sets, scarves, and hot shoes. Don't worry this doesn't last forever and the important thing it to be comfortable and to pamper yourself as much as possible. Good luck!

Wow, you should not be buying pants that only fit you for a month. Thats not right.

I bought maternity jeans, two pair, online at Old Navy.com, because they actually fit and look like real pants. Each pair was about 24 bucks.

Theyre not big, they look just like real pants, my butt even looks normal in them... except for the fact that its bigger than usual because of the pregnancy poundage... but not big looking in the jeans.

Iam 8 1/2 months and still fit into both pair, and will continue to until birth. I have the under belly band, and the full panel. The full panel is a better idea, it more comfy and stretchy, the under the belly is a little tight feeling, but not so much that i cant continue to grow.

I think youre looking in all the wrong places or something. I havent had a single problem with maternity clothes. I only buy sale items, and i never buy pants unless they indicate the style is for 0-9 months.

Target also has nice stuff on their maternity sale rack. I picked up a pair of 0-9 month full panel slacks for 6 bucks.

Ebay is nice too.

I think total ive spent mayb 100- 150 dollars on clothes for this pregnancy. Which isnt bad considering i spend more in a year for regular clothes here and there.

i was so there with you when I was preg. I used the rubber band around the button hole for a long time then I had to go to maternity clothes. I can not tell you were to find any other than a second hand store. If you have a friend borrow hers if not just watch for sells I had 3 pairs and a lot of stretchy jogging type pants. I was not going to spend a fortune on something that looks crappy on me and I only were for a few months!! Yes you can buy ones that look good but you will pay an arm and a leg for them!! Get the ones that are meant to fit under you tummy and not go over it ...(I hate those)

Yeah my butt looks huge in them...lol. Im a stay at home mom and only go out occasionally. So I just made sure to get just one nice outfit for those times and I got one good pair of jeans and a few t shirts. When Im around the house I will wear my husbands shirts or something. I also was fortunate enough to get some clothes from my friend who just had her baby 8 weeks ago. Your not being cheap. I bought the jeans that expand as you grow. The only reason I spent 26 dollars on a pair of jeans is because I have to have some for tall people (which they only sell at Old Navy or JcPenny, etc..the expensive places of course), other wise I would be walking around in high waters.

I did spend like $30 on 3 pairs of pants, That's all I've owned my whole pregnancy. Maybe I got lucky and didn't get so big here at the end that they no longer fit.
I got mine at ShopKo (if you have one) they had decent real jeans with the elastic on top in the maternity dept)

Other then that I bought a couple of maternity tops and then just looked through the larger sizes for other tops in the regular section. I buy the smaller Woman's sizes as well.

Pregnancy pants cost just the same amount of money as do regular pants. Dont go to those fancy maternity stores. Go to Marshal's, Kohls, Dots. You can find some sales. If you get them stretchy enough they should last through your whole pregnancy and a few months after you give birth. So they will last quite awhile.

You can do the plus size thing but why not enjoy your pregnancy and wear cute maternity clothing. They look like regular clothes and they fit so perfectly. If you get plus size clothing that will look sloppy. Pregnancy is no excuse to look sloppy.

I only had 2 outfits that fit at the end of my pregnancy, I felt the same way, why buy somthing that will only fit for a month! I did have some pj pants and sweatpants that I wore around the house.... but, now I wish I would have spent the money, because I am planning on having another child and it would be great to have some clothes already, plus you already feel fat when prego, and I just felt worse wearing sweatpants and stuff all the time.... Just get at least one outfit you like, it will pick you up on those days that you are feeling the worst.....

Old Navy and Motherhood have good maternity selections and they're not too expensive. If you buy online you can get even lower prices. But you need to consider this, most maternity clothes are good until you give birth because they're stretchy. If you're that concerned about it look at thirt stores and garage sales. But in all honesty $30 for a pair of jeans is a really good deal.

Is there a maternity clothing store called Motherhood around your area? I bought four outfits there during my whole pregnancy. Each article was under $20. My butt was huge; according to my husband. However, I didn't wear any jeans. I wanted something loose and feels comfortable.
