There is no evidence in the literature to suggest that cranberry juice will help prevent or treat a yeast infection. In fact, since cranberry juice often contains a lot of sugar, it may actually increase your chances of yeast infection. Studies have demonstrated that a diet high in sugar and carbohydrate can increase susceptibility to vaginal yeast infection.

Some sources advocate for the use of yogourt to prevent yeast infection. Unfortunately, there is little solid evidence to suggest that yogourt helps either. Many brands of yogourt claiming to contain live cultures of beneficial bacteria actually do not contain sufficient numbers of viable bacteria by the time you get them home. Plus, unless you're buying sugar-free yogourt, the high sugar content is as problematic as the cranberry juice.

Any number of factors can lead to an overgrowth of candida albicans, (yeast) which is a naturally occurring fungus within your body. Triggers that can upset the balance can be hormonal like pregnancy, birth control pills, menopause or often antibiotics allow the yeast to grow out of control. Yeast can be found throughout your entire body and can produce many varied unrelated symptoms when there is an overgrowth.
There are several good anti fungal prescriptions like Nystatin and Diflucan which help to bring the candida control. Probiotic supplements available at health food stores also help to keep things in balance. Just remember that yeast LOVES sugar so restricting your intake will definitely help with the problem in the future. You might need an OTC or prescription anti fungal to help you right now.
Nix the cranberry juice.

Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

No. Cranberry is good for the urinary tract and those are 2 totally different areas. You need to be seen by a medical professional for medication to treat the infection. Using over the counter medications such as Monistat isn't a good idea without first seeing a doctor. Monistat 7 day (the one insert form) is actually known to cause allergic reactions in many women as are other kinds which is why you should see a doctor first.

No...cranberry juice runs through your bladder so it has a healing effect. It does run through the part of your body that has a yeast infection.

You need vaginal cream...anti-fungal.

No cranberry juice isn't the thing to help, but yogurt is. Yogurt contains healthy bacteria.
