What my friend had to do was hook up his 360 to the internet and update them from some site.But I never figured out if this was true.

hey buddy forget the other answers here is what you do either get hooked up to live or make a cd with the update
1. 20 Gig hardrive.
2. connect Xbox 360 to internet using gateway or router
3. make an xbox live account with promotional 1 month xbox live gold membership

LOL! Microsoft sure got you good huh? You actually expected to be able to run the older XBox games on the XBox 360, eh? Well, too bad!
The Nintendo Wii is the ONLY console system that you can run the older games on, and even games from other systems too! The PS3 and the XBox360 both CANNOT run games from previous systems! It does not work, and WILL NEVER work!

The 360 is supposed to be backwards compatible with a lot of games, but not all of them. If they don't play certain games, chances are they never will.
